Rolling east at Roods Creek
Title:  Rolling east at Roods Creek
Description:  SLN 4 rolls around the big curve at Roods Creek-between Deposit and Hancock-though you cant see much of it for the foliage. This is a great spot in winter, but the NYSW SDs look good here in new paint.

Great day for a picnic
Title:  Great day for a picnic
Description:  Down under Starrucca, where the D&H Penn Division once ran-you can see the right of way beyond the picnic table-is a small park. A little over a dozen years ago, you could see SD 45s here on a regular basis-the gray, maroon and yellow of the Erie Lackawanna, along with C628s on the D&H. The Penn Division is now only a memory, but its still good to see SD 45s on the viaduct.

Pair of 45s and something odd
Title:  Pair of 45s and something odd
Description:  The pusher set on this PYRP has a pair of SD 45s, not uncommon for the time. The odd unit is against the train, NYSWs remaining C 420, which did not typically work in this type service.

Title:  Something old, something new
Description:  A set of NYSW units, including a pair of new B 40s, has just pushed a northbound coal train up from Binghamton and is now getting set to roll back down the hill. NYSW used whatever was handy for pushers, and new high power road units were not exempt from this grueling service.

Turning north
Title:  Turning north
Description:  PYRP is about to hit track 5, the track that diverges from track 3 to go to Bevier St and north. Despite an effort to have NYSW power lead, and a trend toward more uniform power consists, sometimes the yards would turn out a dogs breakfast, such as this set of two Guilford painted units, lightning stripe, and a yellowjacket. But theres an Alco!!

NY 7 with a local unit
Title:  NY 7 with a local unit
Description:  NYSW 2012 leads this NY 7 into Binghamton. While NYSW was not above using small power on road trains, the long hood first orientation of 2012 makes me think the stack outlawed before it got to Binghamton, and 2012 was sent out to retrieve the train. You never knew what to expect from the Susie Q. The 2012 leads a trio of SD 45s as a set of CP power sits on the 2 runner on the ex DLW in the distance.
