Susprised
Title:  Susprised
Description:  I was heading east on NY 17C when I ran across this guy. Wish I had known, could have gotten a better shot. Even so, hard to resist a grab shot of an ex Reading unit still in green and one of the rebuilt lightning stripe units on this ABBU.

Round the curve
Title:  Round the curve
Description:  And past the station, which is pretty well hidden in the trees at left. It will still be there for another dozen years or so, til finally the ravages of time and vandals take their toll.

Streaking south
Title:  Streaking south
Description:  BT 2 rolls south approaching the PA 706 bridge south of New Milford with a pair of new lightning stripe rebuilds and an ex Guilford painted unit. The right of way for the old eastbound DLW track is now an open path. The trees will continue to make it harder and harder to find over the next 20 years.

Now thats more like it!!
Title:  Now thats more like it!!
Description:  The M-K rebuild program has borne fruit, and the new diesels are back and in service. Showing the flag on this BUME at Phelps St in Port Dickinson are four lightning stripes, two each GP 38 and GP39-2s. My job allowed me some leeway in train watching-I ran a commercial laundry route-but not enough to give chase. Id have loved to see these on the bridge at Harpursville. GP 38-2 7307, the "Competition" leads the 73 cars of today's train.

Turning north
Title:  Turning north
Description:  PYRP is about to hit track 5, the track that diverges from track 3 to go to Bevier St and north. Despite an effort to have NYSW power lead, and a trend toward more uniform power consists, sometimes the yards would turn out a dogs breakfast, such as this set of two Guilford painted units, lightning stripe, and a yellowjacket. But theres an Alco!!

Yard work
Title:  Yard work
Description:  Two jobs are working at QD yard today. At left, an NYSW job, BH 2, is working with a lightning stripe GP 38 and an NYSW GE. At right, CR 6802 is leading OIBU as it works its side. CR 3214, the power for WABH 11, is tucked away for the day farther into the yard.

Always a good power set
Title:  Always a good power set
Description:  The days of the NYSW directed service operation of the D&H had come to a close, but there was still a lot of mixing between their power fleets. Such is the case with this BH 2 working QD yard, a lightning stripe GP 38 and a B 40. You never knew what would turn up.
