Eight units!!
Title:  Eight units!!
Description:  The full complement of power is now visible on the 261. Some of these units must be a power balancing move, since the unit trains are heavier going south, and DPUs sometimes get cut at Heavener, or Shreveport. For the second time in as many weeks, the 261 has eight units, more than needed for what is admittedly a big train, 90 freight, 34 autos, and two articulated racks.

Description:  I took off from Tahlequah St, and despite getting stuck at the light at Cheri Whitlock, still barely was able to get to Davidson Rd ahead of the train, just as the gates hit bottom. Shot through the windshield. If only the sun had been a little higher...just not quite enough light to stop the motion.

Title:  Uner the water tower
Description:  Wed just gotten home from dinner, and of course, that means a train coming as we back into the driveway. I took off, hoping to catch the northbound with a little light left. It was a hazy sun, but enough to get a shot of this 181-all autos today-under the Siloam Springs water tower as it rolls north.

Working hard
Title:  Working hard
Description:  The days following the departure of the C 628s marked a move toward four axle power, most of it hand me downs from LV and Reading, mostly GP 38s and 39s, but also a group of C 420s from LV. D&H did get some of its own power, among them a dozen U 23Bs, one of which is leading this northbound coal train on Richmondville hill. These units would ultimately wind up on Maine Central during the Guilford era, along with the 1976 GP 39-2s.

Two out of three aint bad
Title:  Two out of three aint bad
Description:  The oil train was headed south, the lead power under the US 412 overpass, and not photographable, so I did the next best thing, and went to Tahlequah St to get the meet with the impending northbound, which we see approaching here, The grain train, an empty northbound, was just hitting the detector at Davidson Rd, 2 miles to the north, as I pulled up to get the first shot of this series. So I was able to get two of the three trains in this three way meet.

Long snake
Title:  Long snake
Description:  We were coming back from Rogers, and saw a northbound grain move at Lake Frances Rd, stretched out to the south, waiting on a meet. I rushed home, dropped my wife off, loaded the recycling, and headed back. By the time I got back to town, the grain train had gone north, and this southbound oil train was in the siding, the head end at Tahlequah St, the train snaked along down past Lincoln.
