After I got the head end, it was just a matter of waiting out the DPU. I was hoping for a couple of units-the KCS, which crosses this line here, almost always runs their coal trains in a 2x3 configuration here-but UP runs them 2x1. Of course, their grade profile is a lot more favorable than the up and down KCS. Still, a nicely lit and nicely clean SD 70AH was a good finish as the train rolls past the local library, in the distance. |

The snow event of mid January was not to be the last for the season. Another storm dropped about 6" on northwest Arkansas in mid February. Then it got cold; the next couple days the high didnt get out of the teens. I moved here to get away from this!! Northbound empty grain rolls into Gravette in stinging cold. The weather would get the best of the train a few miles north in Goodman Mo, and kill what would have been an epic day with a southbound. |

The morning after I followed UP 4014 to Strasburg, I went down to Pena Blvd on the RTD to get some shots I had wanted to do on my previous trip. I spent a couple hours there, enjoying the interurban appeal of the trains heading to and from the airport. One was arriving as I walked up to the station, and I caught it between the catenary supports. |
