Backing onto their train |
Description: |
A pair of IMRL units-one an ex NYSW SD45-back into the yard to get their train and head north. I'm standing on the Choteau Trafficway, a great overhead spot to watch the action at the west end of the yard. Note a BNSF coal train in the distance; it will soon be heading south on the KCS. The KCS executive train is also there, top center. |

BUEB rolls in past the DLW yard tower as it makes its way slowly into the yard, its 70 cars to be worked and put on trains for New England and the south. It was unusual to see a solid set of Guilford power, so this was something of an anomaly. |

Turning the power |
Description: |
Sometimes the D&H would need to turn an engine of set of power. There was no working turntable at East Binghamton-the DLWs table had been out of service for years, and it would be after CP took over that a new one would be built-so it would have to be wyed via BD. This set is rolling up to Bevier St, where it will change direction, then head down the Buffalo Runner to QD, then back onto the Tier to head back through town into the yard. |

Description: |
An auto rack train arrives at Kansas City on the ex Wabash. We have a "family portrait" of NS power here, one unit in NS and one each of the predecessors. The SD45 is not long for the world at this point, nor are the open racks. I had seen the second unit before-on the Southern at Greensboro in 1980. |

Description: |
MEBU is on the left, with 3 of 4 units from the 45 line, as a set of pushers waits on the right for a northbound going up the hill. As a bonus, we have both NYSW F 45's. It was a good time to be watching the 20 cylinder beasts. Action at the south end of Bevier St. |

Every day is like this |
Description: |
A wild assortment of power could be found at East Binghamton most days, and this day is like most. The two leased BAR units bracket a GATX lease unit. This trio will go out later as a helper set. The NYSW SD 45s were all over, as were a variety of other leased SD 45s, such as this ex Southern unit from NRL. |
