150th Anniversary trip
Title:  150th Anniversary trip
Description:  In 2004, the NYSW ran a pair of Syracuse-Binghamton trips to mark the 150th anniversary of predecessor Syracuse Binghamton & NY. They ran Binghamton/Syracuse and return on Saturday, the opposite on Sunday, with the 142, M&E FL9s and a couple of NYSW units. Heres Saturdays train crossing the Chenango River. I must have been running out on the NY 12A bridge ank just made the shot, its a little off level.

Run by
Title:  Run by
Description:  True to form for the Tier, the weather for the trip I rode was dreadful, cold and rainy. I rode Sunday's trip, originating in Syracuse. They ran a couple of runbys along the way, one in Tully, the other here at Lisle. We see the train smoking it up as it comes out from under the I 81 overpass. The photo line is standing on the flood wall that keeps the Tioghnioga River from periodically inundating Lisle and Whitney Point. The NYSW was optimistic by putting the 4006 as lead diesel. This is the unit that crunched a dump truck at a grade crossing during the 1988 NRHS convention.

This SLN 4 is pulled down to Terrace Drive, its train stretched all the way back out to the north end. It will be a long back up move to get back out onto the Tier to go east at BD.

Helping out
Title:  Helping out
Description:  KL 1 rolls west behind a single NYSW B40. The NYSW would continue to provide power on Tier trains til CP got enough units on line to run the trains, though Suskie power would continue to run through on stack trains. The original four B40s would stay, but within a few months, CSX would take back the units they financed, 4010-4048.

Its a CP train now
Title:  Its a CP train now
Description:  CP took over the D&H in July 1990. Stack trains continued to run through with NYSW power, an arrangement that would lead to CP power in New Jersey as well as yellowjackets in Buffalo, as we see here on this SLN 5, symbolled 255 by CP-and DHT 9 by Conrail(got all that??) rolling across the Chemung River, seen from the Clemens Center Parkway bridge.

Where semaphores once stood
Title:  Where semaphores once stood
Description:  CP 255, the SLN 5, rolls between the signal at MP 243(actually signals 242-1 and -2, MP 243 was just a little to the west), which were, up til this week, the famous twin semaphores. Its just not the same with Type Gs.
