Its not too much of a struggle with todays short 47 car train. The three trailing units are en route to Heavener for servicing, and are not on line.

Rare sight
Title:  Rare sight
Description:  The KCS had 70 of these SD70MACs lettered for TFM. Not long after I moved to Siloam, they started to renumber and reletter them KCS, putting them in the 3900 series. Now, almost ten years into that program, there are still a few TFM units left, but not very many. I was in the right place at the right moment to catch this one on the rear of a TXUX coal train, along with a KCSM unit assisting the through road power.

Description:  Usually, with a southbound, if I shot him at the north end of Dorsey, I couldnt beat him to Gentry, though sometimes especially heavy trains would bog down coming into Decatur, and again on the short hump at MP 219. The 82 cars must have been really holding them back, as I was able to get this shot at Floyd Moore Rd, just north of Gentry.

Description:  Well, probably the last one Ill see here. Class unit KCS 3900 leading the Q KCSH splits the side by side searchlights at MP 187 near Anderson Mo late in the afternoon of Feb 26 2012. New signals have been going up in a steady southward pace, and the new lights can be seen on the ground here. Gentry and Siloam Springs got new home signals during the week of 02/20. This one is not long for the world.

Description:  Sometimes KCS will run extra units on an empty train to balance the power used as DPUs, since they tend to accumulate in Heavener after a run down from Pittsburg, as theyre not really needed for northbounds.
