Ballard Creek |
Description: |
The H train was pulling from the siding, so had a 15 MPH speed restriction through the interlocking. That makes it easy for me to get ahead. This shot is now viable since ODOT is working on widening US 59 through Watts and has cut most of the trees. The bridge crosses Ballard Creek south of Watts. |

Til the cows come home |
Description: |
The H train rolls past a cow pasture and creek north of Stilwell. The trees have been creeping up on this shot; only a few years ago it was much more open, and a good part of the train could be seen. Now youre lucky to get a clean shot of the power, and wont if its more than three engines. |

Starting out |
Description: |
This was a second train this day. I had chased an AEPX coal train south to Stilwell, and was driving back north when I heard this train talking to the dispatcher, relaying his stats having done work at Watts. We have 110 cars and 10005 tons of the H train getting underway at Watts. |

From the road |
Description: |
After coming out of the reverse curve at Chewie Rd, the line straightens out, and is still close to US 59. This was a grab from the road as the train rolled south. |

High above |
Description: |
After pulling from the siding, making for a slow start, there is a 30 MPH curve at Chewie Rd that also keeps a train from getting up to speed. The result is, I have enough time to climb the hill along US 59, another vantage point opened up when the road was widened to 4 lanes a couple of years ago. This is the H train seen from the top of the bluff. |
