View from the bridge |
Description: |
The new Cheri Whitlock Dr overpass in Siloam Springs. The new bridge was opened several months ago, replacing the grade crossing here. There had not been any accidents that I am aware of, but a train passing did tie up traffic for a while, and anyone turning in or out of Country Club Dr could have a long wait in the aftermath of a train. We see the southbound H train about to pass under with 101 cars and a DPU. |

Finally caught one |
Description: |
Ive had little luck catching the new 5000 series ET44AHs in good light, in the lead. I was heading up to the transfer station with three bags full, and saw a southbound approaching the Lincoln Av crossing. I didnt like the angle there, so turned and headed for Jefferson St. I was able to get this shot of the H KCSH rolling around the curve at the crossing with a new GE in good sun. Id have chased him, but I had three bags of really stinky garbage in the back. So it goes. |

Beat him to it |
Description: |
I got lucky again, and made all the lights in Siloam. I beat the train to Davidson Rd, and got him there, rolling 100 empty grain hoppers north. |

After the southbound TXUX train rolled through, the northbound grain train was again on the move, seen here along Wolf Creek, which still has some snow on the banks. |

Glint of sun |

The light was sinking fast, and one of the last places I could get a somewhat sunlit shot was here at Deer Creek Rd in Noel, where we see the trains five units catching the last rays of setting sun |

Meet by chance |
Description: |
I was home, and heard a horn, along with the sound of working engines. Northbound, I thought, and took off. When I got to town, I didnt see the northbound-not uncommon, they sometimes take a few minutes to get up the hill from Watts. I was going up to Tahlequah St, as I was thinking there might be a meet, since I heard a horn to the north as well. I dont normally beat the southbounds to town, they get there too fast for me to get ahead of them. So it was with some surprise I saw the headlight of this train up beyond Country Club Rd. A southbound grain move rolls through the signals at Tahlequah St behind a now common mix of power. |
