Album Info:In November 2006 I moved to Rogers Ark, then six months later to Siloam Springs, on the Heavener Sub. Since then, I have taken a lot of photos on the KCS in my new home town. This album contains anything I took between Davidson Rd, MP 226.5, and Elm St, approximately MP 233.

Southbound coal
Title:  Southbound coal
Description:  A TXUX coal train rolls 125 cars south at Davidson Rd, about to enter Siloam Springs. This is a great spot to shoot the action any time of day for a southbound, and northbounds can be done early and late. Theres a defect detector just south of the crossing that will announce train direction, speed, and axle count, which is really helpful.

Description:  This shot of a TXUX train from the US 412 overpass shows two of Siloams more prominent businesses, Allen Canning, who packs, among other things, Popeye spinach, and DMT Transport, a locally based long haul truckload carrier. Now if only the leader was a KCS unit, wed have a trifecta of Siloam Springs related business.

DPU and pipes
Title:  DPU and pipes
Description:  The DPU on this 125 car loaded TXUX train rolls out from under the US 412 overpass, and past KCS customer Pipelife Jetstream, which receives cars of plastic pellets, which they use to make varying sizes of PVC pipe. They get a switch every day. The 3932 is a recently renumbered TFM unit, relettered and moved from the 1600's to the 3900's, keeping its last two digits. As I post this in July 2016, there are still a few of these units rolling around in TFM paint.

Description:  This is what wed been waiting for all day. A friend had come down from Chicago to check out the KCS, and we were looking for a solid set of Belles, which was something of a novelty at the time. Finally, this 84 car H train showed behind a pair of them. We were down at Elm St, south of town. The crossing sits in the middle of an S curve. The shot of a southbound isnt all that great, due to a hill on the inside of the curve, but the northbound shot is pretty good, especially early in the day.
