Lotsa power |
Description: |
Five units lead this 13T in the gloom of a December afternoon, approaching Hiawatha Rd. It's an interesting power set: four older GE's, including a C36-7, and a GP 50. Ten years prior, this would be first string power. |

Coal train south |

Most coal trains to and from New England would arrive via the Tier. Every now and then one would run via Enola and CP. Heres an empty train symbolled 88T returning via that route arriving at the north end of Binghamton yard. |

Clear of the yard |
Description: |
RPPY has reached Shaws, the block limit station near Shaw Rd, about a mile or so south of Terrace Dr. Now clear of the East Binghamton yard, it still had a long slow ride before it could start to run, as there was a 10 MPH speed restriction almost all the way to the state line. It made for an easy chase, but not so good for the crews. |

HAN 2 in the yard |
Description: |
IF the NYSW did not have a crew ready, Conrail would not let the train stay on the Tier, and NYSW had to stow it in a yard. This was done either on the Utica Branch, or at East Binghamton, depending on operational needs. Today, the choice is East Binghamton, and we see a HAN 2 pulling down to Terrace Drive behind a pair of NS units. When the NYSW crew is on, they will back out through BD and head east. |
