Belles in the snow |
Description: |
We were out on this snowy day chasing-which we did in NY all the time, since it snowed A LOT there, so no big deal to go out in the little bit of snow we get in Arkansas. One of the prizes that day was this southbound we caught near Sulphur Springs behind a pair of new Belles, which was a big deal at the time. |

Tunnel of trees |
Description: |
When I lived in the northeast, this was a pervasive problem: rail lines were so long established that the trees had, over many years, grown up around them, making photography a challenge. So it is here as well, as this northbound Q train rolls in a long, shaded trough, the trees having grown up over the years. |

At least, the first one I saw. Most of the washout repair looked like it was done the previous day, though they were still tamping and surfacing when I was in Watts. Now its Tuesday evening, and this 131 car H train is rolling north across Lincoln Av at 1900. There may have been others during the day, I just did not see them. Its good to see trains running again. Amazing how much the track crews accomplished in a short time. Bringing up the rear is KCS 4034 as distributed power. |

New power |
Description: |
They must have gotten it from Athearn, the undecorated model. KCS received most of its Belles in primer-they run just as well, regardless of how theyre painted, right??-and had them painted as they had time. Some went quite a while in the primer scheme, most were painted fairly quickly. We see 4696 trailing a lite power move, still in its skivvies. |

Though it will shortly be holding back. The DPU on this H train parses Jefferson St as the train heads down the hill to Watts. I'll be home before he gets there. |

Northbound Q |
Description: |
I caught the northbound at the Ark 59B crossing up by Little Debbie, with a KCSM leader. I went downtown to try to get the head end of the grain train passing the rear of the Q train, but too many people who cant get out of their own way blocked me. Oh, well.... |
