Mixed up |
Description: |
NYSW power would be a mainstay on the D&H lines well into the next year, and on stack trains it would run through along with CP power from Jersey to Buffalo til NYSW stopped getting stack trains in the late 90's. This move early in the CP regime shows the yellowjackets are still in their prime on the D&H as this 90 car MEBU rolls out toward BD. |

Rainy Monday |
Description: |
MEBU rolls west behind an NYSW B40-nothing unusual there-and three CP units, a new development that was about to become a standard sighting in the Tier. I was at the Hess station on NY 17C in Endwell, figuring this would be a good place to get gas, so I could see the train if it showed. I was right on. The station is now a used car lot, taking it off the must stop places for gas and goodies, though there is a Valero a couple of blocks west, that allows you to see a train passing, but theres no shot there. |

Whod have guessed?? |
Description: |
Another one of those "if I had said ten years ago..." shots. Who would have figured NYSW running new, high horsepower diesels, and in combination with CP power, yet?? Here it is on a 74 car MEBU rolling west at Hiawatha Rd. The power combinations would get even stranger by the end of the year. |

Into the shadows |
Description: |
The shorter days are making it harder to get the late afternoon shots, especially where there are buildings to block the sun. A just a little too late KL 1 comes into Binghamton behind a yellowjacket and a pair of CP units. It will wait here at the south end of Bevier St for BUAB to pass. Once it clears the Buffalo Runner, KL 1 will proceed to QD and the Tier. |

Unlikely combination |
Description: |
One of those power sets that if you had said this would happen, NYSW and SOO power together, youd have been laughed at. Here it is. BUAB arrives at Binghamton, seen on the Chenango River bridge on a Sunday morning. |

Odd combination |
Description: |
If you had said, in 1980, that the NYSW would be running high horsepower diesels on the D&H, and theyd be tied to SOO units, theyd have called the funny farm to come get you. In 1990, there it was. BUAB with one of the odder power sets any of us had seen, rolls under the signal gantry at Afton with an Albany bound grain train. |

Stone bridge |
Description: |
One place I liked, but was hard to shoot because of the trees, was the NY 7 overpass north of Sanitaria Springs. The attractive arch broidge was really photogenic, but if there were more than two units on the train, you could not get them all. BUAB had four, but I thought Id take advantage of the bare trees to get a shot of an unusual power set here. |
