Description:  NYSW power would be a mainstay on the D&H lines well into the next year, and on stack trains it would run through along with CP power from Jersey to Buffalo til NYSW stopped getting stack trains in the late 90's. This move early in the CP regime shows the yellowjackets are still in their prime on the D&H as this 90 car MEBU rolls out toward BD.

Title:  Rainy Monday
Description:  MEBU rolls west behind an NYSW B40-nothing unusual there-and three CP units, a new development that was about to become a standard sighting in the Tier. I was at the Hess station on NY 17C in Endwell, figuring this would be a good place to get gas, so I could see the train if it showed. I was right on. The station is now a used car lot, taking it off the must stop places for gas and goodies, though there is a Valero a couple of blocks west, that allows you to see a train passing, but theres no shot there.

Title:  Old power rules
Description:  One of the remaining D&H RS 36s rolls a 556 south across the diamond at BD as it heads into East Binghamton. The RS 36s did not see the road often at this point, and it would have been a very unlikely leader, though CP was not shy about running Alcos in regular service. My guess is the crew on this train came down with the PLM unit leading, and was on short time. If there was no room at the inn, the East Binghamton yardmaster likely had him tie up at Bevier St and taxied the crew to the yard. Then 5022 was sent over to get the train once there was space.

Title:  Grain to Albany
Description:  A 390 grain train to the Port of Albany rolls north near Old State Road. The empty bridge in the foreground is the old DLW Syracuse and Utica Branch. This segment of it was abandoned as part of the project that raised the overpasses at Beview St. The NYSW, who now uses the line, runs on the D&H to a point just north of here, reaching its own line via a new connecting track.

Title:  Front end helper
Description:  Typically the helpers on Belden Hill would be pushing on the rear, making for an easy cutoff at the tunnel, which is behind me. For some reason, this 84 car 892 train got its helper running long hood in the lead. Must have been a beast going up, though an easy ride coming back. MP 599, to the left of the train, is the mileage from Mattawamkeag Maine, where MEC meets the one time CP line from Montreal to St John NB.

Title:  BC Open
Description:  Train 557 rolls under the NY 17C bridge west of Endicott, the one that welcomes participants and visitors the the BC Open, held at that time in September every year. Don't let that string of trailer flats fool you; the train ends just beyond the curve. Today's effort was only 15 cars.
