Rolling south
Title:  Rolling south
Description:  Now off the bridge from Bangor, the Turn gets moving toward Bucksport. Thats the railfan chase vehicle. It was a company car that I had on a 24/7 basis. They mostly didnt care where I took it, though I had to buy my own gas when on personal use. I lived ten miles from my job, and put 38,000 miles on it in a year.

Stretched out
Title:  Stretched out
Description:  The opposite side view of JET 1 shows the train stretched out on the Buffalo Runner, with a mix of power that this train seemed to get pretty routinely, including a B&M GP 9 that these trains seemed to get pretty routinely. Only four units today-either it was a light train, or Guilford was getting more confident.

Must be a jet
Title:  Must be a jet
Description:  My notes dont show what train this is, but it was parked at Bevier St. At the time, JET 1 was the only train that did not yard at East Binghamton, so Im guessing this is JET 1 waiting on a crew. In a nice touch, the leader is one of the B&Ms last order of new power, GP40-2 303.

Thats a lot of power
Title:  Thats a lot of power
Description:  A side view of the train seen at a more head on angle elsewhere. I believe this is JET 1, which was typically overpowered, probably in hopes there would be enough units still running at the end of the trip to get it into the terminal.

Jet powered
Title:  Jet powered
Description:  Guilford established a pair of trains, JET 1 and JET 2 to make some kind of effort to hasten freight velocity to New England. In an optimistic approach by the marketing types, these were called JET 1 westbound, and JET 2 eastbound. Here we see JET 1 coming through Bevier St with 102 cars. It will take the Buffalo Runner to QD, where a new crew will get on for the trip to Buffalo, avoiding the yard and its interinable terminal delay.

Title:  One that got away
Description:  South of Binghamton, it was not unusual to see Chessie or NS power on RPPY and PYRP. North of Binghamton, not so much. This Chessie unit, now working for CSX, but still lettered WM, was borrowed for a trip north, and is now returning to its usual haunts from its short adventure, leading as the train arrives at Binghamton.
