Looking like big time |
Description: |
The NYSW was starting to take delivery of the 20 B 40s financed by CSX, and a number of them are at East Binghamton. The influx of yellowjackets looks like the NYSW is a big class 1. |

Fall splendor |
Description: |
The house at GR, the north end of the siding that started at Nineveh Jct, was always a pretty place to take a train photo. The homeowners have not disappointed today, with an array of pumpkins and a colorful stand of maples to highlight the passing of a set of yellowjackets on this northbound coal train. |

Something old, something new |
Description: |
A set of NYSW units, including a pair of new B 40s, has just pushed a northbound coal train up from Binghamton and is now getting set to roll back down the hill. NYSW used whatever was handy for pushers, and new high power road units were not exempt from this grueling service. |

Odd visitor |
Description: |
Another one of those "bigfoot and the Easter bunny" combinations, one that "wont ever happen," is here at Binghamton on BUME, about to hit BD and head for the yard. A North Shore CF 7, probably here for more extensive work than its home shop can do, trails the NYSW leader. |

Going west |
Description: |
A late SLN 3-the train usually showed in the morning-rolls through Owego on a mission to get to Buffalo. A pair of GEs and a pair of 45s have the task today for the 65 Sea Land platforms, 6 COFC and 7 freight.Note the 40 MPH speed sign. Conrail allowed certain frieghts 50 here, as did EL in days past, so this is a speed restriction, most likely due to work being done in the area. |

High view |
Description: |
NYK 6 arrives with 65 stack platforms behind a pair of B 40s. The view is from the stairway of the Derby Knitting Mills, a large building that was a Binghamton landmark on the Chenango River. The GEs, train, and building are now gone from this scene, and the DLW bridge in the foreground is now single track. Such is progress. |

NYK 6 |
Description: |
NYSW continued to aggressively pursue international container traffic, and Walter Rich was pretty successful at it. This is NYK 6, and eastbound move for NYK steamship lines, though there are some Hanjins on the head end of the 65 platform train. A pair of B 40s has the train headed for Starrucca and Jersey, rolling past the water plant and Willow Run Foods at Kirkwood. |
