Five grays
Title:  Five grays
Description:  With all the attention given to the new Belle scheme, its easy to overlook that the gray units are slowly disappearing. One has to remember, this was considered a great improvement over the white dip that KCS used for so long. This southbound H reain has picked up the local power at Watts for a trip to Heavener for servicing, making for five gray units, a sight that has become unusual.

Its all about the chickens
Title:  Its all about the chickens
Description:  A train full of chicken feed rolls past a place that sells....chicken feed. Across the tracks is a store called The Chicken Coop, which is a junk...er, consignment shop...that has a lot of chicken related items. Trailing unit 4577 is one of only a few AC44's that have been painted into the Belle scheme. There are many more SD70's that have gotten the treatment.

Catching rays
Title:  Catching rays
Description:  One of the great things about winter is the low sun angle, which really saturates the colors. The down side is, the sun never gets very high, and shots you can take in the summer are in shadow. Such is the case at Decatur, where I catch this southbound grain train getting some sun in between the shadows from the adjacent Simmons Foods buildings.

Spavinaw Creek
Title:  Spavinaw Creek
Description:  Sometimes out and back is a one sided event. We went out last Friday because it was a nice day-55 degrees and sun-too nice to stay in. I had not heard a train in several hours, so after lunch we headed north, figuring we'd run into something along the way. That turned out to be a southbound grain train, which we saw at Gravette. We chased down to Spavinaw Creek, where KCS must have cleared out some brush along the tracks, along with the usual die back in winter. A 100 car grain train rolls off the short through truss over Spavinaw Creek, between Gravette and the north end of Dorsey siding, in a view I have not seen before, and impossible when everything is leafed out.
