Five grays
Title:  Five grays
Description:  With all the attention given to the new Belle scheme, its easy to overlook that the gray units are slowly disappearing. One has to remember, this was considered a great improvement over the white dip that KCS used for so long. This southbound H reain has picked up the local power at Watts for a trip to Heavener for servicing, making for five gray units, a sight that has become unusual.

Bearing down
Title:  Bearing down
Description:  The local is now passing the home signal at CP North Watts. It will take the main south past CP South Watts, since there is a northbound empty grain train waiting on a crew in the siding. Hell work the south end, putting away the 36 cars collected during the days work. The grain train wont get out before I give up on it about two hours hence.

Long approach
Title:  Long approach
Description:  The dodger, L 102, is just coming off the Illinois River as it heads toward the yard at Watts. The 93 degrees make for quite a bit of heat distortion at this distance.

Busy, busy
Title:  Busy, busy
Description:  Watts is sometimes a busy place. We see the dodger, L 102, at right, working the yard. What would usually be his third unit is peeking out from behind the relay case at right. At left is the southbound H train, holding the main as he waits his turn at the yard. Behind the dodger is the tail end of the northbound grain train, whose crew now cant get on because the H train is blocking the power. It was a mess.

Faded out
Title:  Faded out
Description:  The herald on KCS 1909 has faded to the point where its just a stop sign. In this case, thats a good thing, since the power for the dodger is sitting on Kenwood St crossing.

Shoving them in
Title:  Shoving them in
Description:  The dodger spends quite a bit of time spotting loaded cars of plastic pellets, and pulling empties at Pipelife. Here it is pushing loads into the siding.
