Gray power, gray day
Title:  Gray power, gray day
Description:  A light power move has cleared Dorsey siding and is about to cross Mt Olive Rd just south of Gravette. At this time, Belles were still something of a novelty, and gray units were everywhere. The other end of this move would have a brighter look.

View from above
Title:  View from above
Description:  One of the features of the US 59 project was taking out some of the hillside south of Watts. This made for a hill that is easily climbed, and which provides a good view of the tracks near MP 238. It is from that perch that we see a southbound grain train behind a pair of repainted AC44s rolling their 114 cars of grain south.

Coop-erating
Title:  Coop-erating
Description:  Southbound grain train slowly passes the Farmers Coop at the north end of Stilwell. Theres a northbound empty coal train that has just cleared into the siding, and the grainer is just getting the signal at N Stilwell. The power is a pair of originally gray AC44CWs, freshly repainted into the Belle scheme. The GEs have been lagging in getting repainted, so it was good to see these in the new scheme.

High above
Title:  High above
Description:  When US 59 was widened from two lanes to four here, this hillside was blasted away to allow for the new southbound lanes. It opened up this shot, since the hill was now easily accessible. A 114 car southbound grain train is passing along US 59 in this panoramic view.

Meeting a northbound
Title:  Meeting a northbound
Description:  The grain train meets the empty TXUX train at CP North Stilwell. The single unit is uncommon on the head an empty train, though there are two more on the rear. Practice is for BNSF to send the coal trains from Wyoming in a 2x1 configuration, with KCS adding DPU power on the rear at Pittsburg. This train had the KCS power cut off at Heavener, but the BNSF power was not rearranged once the train was empty. The two KCS units on the grain train are fresh repaints. Thats US 59 in the foreground.

Pulling down for a meet
Title:  Pulling down for a meet
Description:  Though theres already one going on here. I had seen the southbound grain train after I had dropped off recycling in Siloam, and decided to take chase. I caught up to him here in Watts, where he was holding the main for an impending northbound, but also because the dodger, L 102, was working the yard, using the siding for head room.
