Description:  A then new CN ES44 rolls 12T west at Tioga Center. By this time, the Canadian train had been resymbolled 30T bnd 31T, were rerouted onto the D&H from Binghamton. But 12T tended to get all kinds of foreign power, so even though CN units had been off the line for a couple of years on the regujar trains, they could occasionally show up here.

Title:  Westbound on the Nickel Plate
Description:  I was able to get an hour or so to check out the action on a recent trip to Cleveland. East of town, the mains of the Nickel Plate(NS) and CSX(NYC) are adjacent most of the way to Buffalo. CSX runs many more trains, where NS might run 20 in a day. So its always a treat to get one there. NS did not disappoint, sending this 80 car auto rack train past.

Description:  A shot I liked to get, though I didnt do it often because you had to stand in the traffic lane on NY 7 to do it, was this view of a southbound coming off the Susquehanna River bridge from Sidney into Bainbridge. I braved the traffic(it was Sunday, not that it makes a lot of difference here) to get this shot of 269 with an ex Conrail leader.

Description:  Trains 268 and 269 were notable for almost always getting a pair of GEs. Once in a while, an EMD would sneak in, and almost never would there be three units or foreign power. Today is exceptional, as 268 has a trio of units, and an ex CR leader, seen on the famous high bridge.

Description:  From time to time, NS would send coal to the D&H via Harrisburg. On CP these would be symbolled 8858 north and 8859 south, with varying symbols on NS, though Ive seen 87T and 88T used. Description:  NS 9000 leads 26 stack platforms east. Typically, a diesel with a number such as 9000 would be a class unit, but not in this fleet. The first widecab C40-8 is 8889.
