Taking the siding |
Description: |
We were headed up to Gentry for breakfast. When we got to the Lincoln St crossing, there was a southbound approaching, which turned out to be the 262 train, here taking the siding for a northbound that we didnt wait for, The tele view brings in the Cobb mill, a mile or so to the north, just beyond Country Club Rd. This would not be the only encounter with this train today. |

Got him!! |
Description: |
After grabbing the 262 off the US 412 overpass, I shot uptown hoping to catch the head end of the northbound, knowing hed be restricted to 15 MPH coming off the siding. I was able to catch him at Country Club Rd, getting this shot at the crossing, with the Cheri Whitlock overpass in the distance. Of note, the US Army train is led by truly foreign power, a Canadian unit leading a Mexican unit. Go figure!! Not my preferred angle, but it was what I could get, and besides, my bagels were waiting. |

A light power move rolls north just south of Watts, with a good mix of power, including an international visitor. Also notable is the third unit, KCS 3997, one of the EMDX SD70ACe demonstrators; and KCS 4618, one of the few, but slowly growing number of AC44CW's that are being repainted into the Belle scheme. |

Lite power going away |
Description: |
Because the heavy trains tend to run south, more power winds up in Heavener than is needed for northbound trains. Thus, sometimes a lite power move is done to get all those DPUs back to Pittsburg for another push over the grades on the subdivision. This is one such move, seen going away as it approaches Watts. |

The northbound |

The dispatcher said the grain train was to meet a northbound at Stilwell. I was hoping for an actual train, so was sorta disappointed when it turned out to be just four lite engines, now in the siding as they are about to meet the southbound. Oh well....though one of them did turn out to be notable. |

Coal on the water |
Description: |
We had come down from Gentry, crossing the tracks at Davidson Rd. The signal there showed approach, indicating a southbound on the way. I dropped my wife off at home, and beat it for Watts, getting there just as the dodger was arriving at the north end of the yard. I went to the south end, hoping to catch him working there, where the light would come around for a lit shot. As I reached the south end, here comes this northbound empty AEPX train around the curve. I flipped a U turn and gavew chase, getting ahead of him for this shot on the Illinois River. |

GEs to the yard |
Description: |
After holding out for a very long time, CP finally started sending GEs to the D&H, probably becuase the number of serviceable SD40 types had dwindled to the point where they couldnt cover all the trains. We see 252 arriving off the Susquehanna River bridge, about to cross under Conklin Rd and enter East Binghamton yard with 76 cars. |

Another day, another horn |
Description: |
As always, I heard a horn while out working in the driveway, and took chase. This time, it was an empty grain train that I caught at Davidson Rd. It was too nice to go back and do yard work-temp in the mid 50s and bright sun-so the northbound chase was on. |
