Four units past the station |
Description: |
A shot I want to get right is the head on angle coming past the building, but since I dont really have any decent shots of the new ET44s, I opted for this wider angle. The four head end units of the H train roll their 143 cars past the station-look at the rest of the train to the left of the station. Too bad I got dinked. This would have been a good open view in the sun. Win some, lose some. |

The southbound H train peeks around the corner at the north end of Stilwell. Theres a short but steep grade as the train comes out of a tight curve, and they work here. Lucky for me-it gives me enough time to grab a couple of shots and make it down to the station. |

Catch me if you can |
Description: |
I heard this southbound H train coming through Siloam Springs. Even if I hear a train at the first crossing in town, Country Club Rd, I cant get into town in time to get a shot, and getting across town on US 412 kills the chase most of the time, so I run down Ark 59 to US 62, then west to Westville OK. If he works Watts, I can usually get there before he heads south. Sometimes not. I started toward Watts, only to get about two miles out of town and see the train off to the east. I pulled the first U turn I could and tried for a shot at Westville. I got it, but not the one I wanted. Just as I apprached the Buffington Rd crossing, he was there. I turned on the side road, and was able to get a going away shot of the power. |

Waiting on the grain |
Description: |
When I got to Stilwell, this northbound H train was waiting in the siding. For the second day in a row, I caught one of the AC44CW's in Belle paint, three of them in two days. They must be catching up at the paint shop. Also in consist is an ex ATSF SD 75M, now a lease unit. I had to do a few things in town, so I shot him here, got the grain train at the station, then went to take care of my chores. Id pick up the chase shortly, though. |

When I went past the SR 100 crossing, the crew was cutting the train, which they typically do if theres going to be a long wait, and they dont want to block traffic. Wanted this shot for a long time |
Description: |
The next sequence is the coal train coming into Siloam Springs from the south. Its not an easy shot to get, as the lighting is good only about four months of the year, and you have to be on the US 412 overpass to get it. You also have to beat a northbound up from Watts if youre chasing, which means if you dont make all the lights in Siloam Springs, you might not beat it here. I did this day, with good results. Hes just about to cross Lake Frances Rd. |

Finally |
Description: |
I had chased a northbound empty grain train from home, but with traffic being heavy at 4 PM, I was not able to get a lead on it. Fortunately for me, it was held at Dorsey for a southbound, which showed after a 30 minute wait, A KCS and BNSF GE leading 112 cars and a KCSM AC4400 south, seen here at Mt Olive Rd north of Dorsey siding. |

Subway |
Description: |
The sandwich shop, not rapid transit. I was on my way to pick up a Subway Club for my wife, and saw this guy sitting just south of the Lake Frances Rd crossing, waiting on a meet. I grabbed this shot as I crossed the tracks. When they hold out here, its so they dont block crossings in town, so the southbound he was meeting was a ways off yet. Still there when I was headed home, so I let it go, which my wife appreciated!! |
