Ex CNJ Bay Head train |
Description: |
The CNJ trains to the shore were moved to Penn Station in 1967, allowing the CNJ to close its Jersey City station, and ease connections to New York. Those trains continued to use CNJ power and coaches, and originated from Newark Penn Station. Heres one with ex CNJ 4105 taking on passengers. |

CNJ power on the NY&LB |
Description: |
The NY and Long Branch was jointly operated by PRR and CNJ prior to Conrail. CNJs trains originated from their Jersey City terminal until 1967, when the Aldene plan moved them into Newark Penn Station, with a cross platform transfer from New York connections. Here we see on of them, led by GP40P 4105. Note the crossing gates. They were manually operated at this time. |
