Long hood first
Title:  Long hood first
Description:  Commuter trains on the Bay Head line didnt usually run backwards, as there was a loop to turn at Bay Head. This unit must have come in off the Raritan Valley and was not able to be turned before going out to the shore. It does show the rear end configuration well. Note the first three cars of the train-they are ex Empire Builder cars acquired from BN, the first one still in its GN Big Sky garb.

CNJ power
Title:  CNJ power
Description:  A Newark bound Bay Head train approaches its station stop at South Amboy. It will do its stop and continue to Newark without an engine change, as this is a former CNJ run. For some reason, I picked the gloomiest days to go out and ride.

Where the magic happens
Title:  Where the magic happens
Description:  In todays world, where steam service facilities are hard to come by, engine crews have to bring their own. The tool car trails the engine, tender, and canteens as the train rolls through Hillburn, just west of Suffern.

Helping out
Title:  Helping out
Description:  This trip to Hoboken will get an assist from the NJT GP40P at left. The trip arrived at Port Jervis behind NKP 765. The M&E units will take the train back. The NJT unit is backing down to get the Berk, and will pull it back to Hoboken after turning it on the wye at Campbell Hall.

Pouring it on
Title:  Pouring it on
Description:  Looks like NKP 765 is doing most of the work as the engine and its tool cars pass Arden. Rather than take a lot of time to have the Berk back to Campbell Hall, turn, and return to Port Jervis, the train headed to Hoboken behind M&E Alcos, with the steamer returning behind this NJT unit.
