Herzog means one thing |
Description: |
Ballast, at least in these cars. This ballast train had just dumped its contents north of town where the Illinois River had washed out the main on both sides of the bridge. It was now pulling past the south switch to back into the yard. |

Rage against the dying of the light |
Description: |
Going away shot of the DPU on this southbound grain train as the last light fades. I had spent most of the day outside puttering around the house with various small projects, and heard nothing all day. Just as the light goes, I catch this guy. KCS ran another half dozen trains over the next three hours. Timing is everything. |
