Description:  For a couple of years in the early part of the 2000s decade, NYSW leased a pair of SD38s from Locomotive Leasing Partners. Here one of them leads SU 100 at Kirkwood NY en route to Jersey.

Mixed up set
Title:  Mixed up set
Description:  For a while in the 1990s, NYSW could put together a pretty good looking set of power. After Walter Rich passed, and most of the SD 45s were sold or scrapped, they picked up used diesels from a number of sources. The result was, it became harder and harder to find a matched set of power. This SU 100 is a case in point, rolling a 63 car train east past the Kirkwood water plant, though it does have one of the two SD 40T-2's that they had painted at the time.

Description:  SU 99 arrives at BD on a sunny February morning with a yellowjacket leading three other units that are, well, not as well dressed. After a decade or more of good looking power, the NYSW has reverted into the mix of hand me down colors that were its hallmark in the 80s.

Description:  We chased an eastbound detour train, probably Q 156, or possibly Q 404, I didnt note the symbol, to Susquehanna, then caught this Q 271 there going back. We were able to grab this shot along PA 171 where the tracks go away from the road at Red Rock. Thats my then girlfriend, now wife, Diane, getting a shot of the action too.

Title:  Typical mix
Description:  The NYSW had a wide variety of hand me down power over the years, and they were not shy about mixing it up. Most of the time, they put the yellowjackets in the lead, but anything could show up. BH 1 crosses the Chenango River on its way to Syracuse with a pair of yellowjackets, a six and a four motor unit, leading an ex NW SD, still in black dip.

Description:  By this time, it was a real catch to get an SU 99 in daylhght. I was returning from a trip to New York, which usually meant a ride up NY 97, just in case. Zoday it paid off, as I caught up to the train near Narrowsburg. Here it is at Basket, on a gloomy Sunday.

Description:  BH 2 rolls 51 cars across the Chenango on its way to Binghamton with a power set that includes three of its four ex SP tunnel motors. The two trailing units were the only tunnel motors in yellowjacket at the time. The NY 12A bridge is in the background.
