Another old friend
Description:
D&H 5017 was the usual engine working the yard at Binghamton, but a couple of the other RS's got in the action as well. Here we see RS 11 5009 working a cut of cars with another of Binghamtons odd pieces of rolling stock, NYSW caboose 0121. The old Alco still has some life yet, judging by the plume of smoke.

Lease power galore
Description:
And a few NYSW units, including both F45s. There are a few other odds and ends in this shot taken from the trailer park next to the yard, including EMD test bed PLM 3041, and RS 36 5009, both partly visible. I was not able to get the numbers, but there is also a D&H GP 38 and a C424 back in the line.

The Old Guard
Description:
CP kept some of the old D&H Alcos running in yard and local service, as they were still serviceable for this purpose, though once in a rare while one would get out on a road train. One such unit was 5009, seen here switching the south end in a view from Terrace Drive.

Gas train
Description:
Local ML 1 ran a couple of days a week to the Tioga Central, then to the Owego & Harford, delivering LP Gas for the short line to take to a storage facility at North Harford on the ex LV Auburn branch. Power was whatever was working SU 2, or anything available. Todays train has 16 cars behind a pair of Alcos, one of them is one of a very few D&H RS 36s.
