There were not many SDP 40s built-only 6 for Great Northern, and 14 for National of Mexico. The N de M units wound up on KCS, where they were treated like any other SD 40, and went into the road pool and could be seen systemwide. This one is mid consist on this lite power move. |

During the years prior to the KCS getting dozens of new diesels, there was a motley assortment of older power, some KCS, some hand me down. We see a southbound approaching Lincoln Av with some of each. A pair of consecutively numbered Belles are in the lead, with a pair of ex TFM units, consecutively numbered SDP40s in different paint schemes trailing on this Q train with 50 freight and 10 stacks in tow. |
