Title:  I always got a kick out of this
Description:  There were several NS trains that ran on CP south of Binghamton. One of them was 41T, an Enola-Toronto train that came up through CPs East Binghamton yard before gaining the NS Southern Tier Line at BD. It usually had CN power, and I loved the irony of the competitor using the same tracks. It was even better when 41T would run through as CP was getting one of their own trains out. Today is one of those days, as CP 419's power is moving onto the 1 runner from the north end of the shop, as 41T rolls its 75 cars through the yard behind a solid set of CN units.

Title:  View from below
Description:  Just south of Tunkhannock Creek is a pull off along US 11, which allows a stunning view of the bridge. I caught 30T rolling south here. The viaduct has walls on the sides, which partly obscure the view of the train, but its still an impressive sight.

Description:  Todays 41T had a very unusual leader, a CSX unit. We saw very few of these on NS, though they were not unusual on NYSW trains due to that road handling some CSX overhead traffic to Jersey. The bright yellow nose made for a great look as it rolled west along the George F Highway as it approached the big curve at Endwellwith 39 cars.

Title:  Just one
Description:  Sometimes it wasnt so much a chase, as I heard the train and ran it down, just to see what the power was and get a shot, then head back home. Owego was an easy spot to do this, since it was close to the house, and I could usually beat a train there with a little heads up, or if I saw it coming through Endwell on my way home. Today is one of those days, and I caught 41T rolling at Miller Beach Rd in Owego behind diverse mix of power with 52 cars.

Description:  After many years of dithering about where to locate the bridge, NYSDOT finally decided to site a Susquehanna crossing at exit 66 on NY 17, the Apalachin exit. This turned out to be a good thing for me, as it eliminated the need for me to have to go through Endicott most of the time, and also provided a good place to get a shot of a westbound, such as this 41T rolling toward Owego.

Description:  I lived just over the hill from this location, and it was an easy thing to get here for a shot at a pretty location, especially this day with the fall color going full out. Today was one of those days, as I caught 41T with 71 cars behind an NS standard cab GE, unusual because CN power almost always led on this train, and because by this time, wide cabs pretty much ruled the world, and the standard cabs had become something of a novelty.

More roadside running
Title:  More roadside running
Description:  The road that runs next to CPs East Binghamton yard is NY 7, which follows the line down past Conklin, where it turns west, and NY 7A picks up the chase. Once into Pennsylvania, it becomes one of PAs many 4 digit tertiary roads, and soon winds up in Hallstead. We are just south of the state line in PA where there is a small pull out with a good view of the tracks. The light is getting really low as I catch 30T with a set of old power in an easy shot.

Description:  This location used to be known as West BD. Its where the former Lackawanna main swung over to join the Erie after the consolidation of facilities in 1959, with the DLW abandoning most of its line from here to Corning. Much of that right of way became NY 17. Here 41T rolls west off the DLW onto the Erie, having come off the CP at BD, and past the DLW passenger station on what is now the Johnson Running track. The track in the foreground is all that remains of the DLW here, now the Vestal Spur.
