Description: |
Just south of Tunkhannock Creek is a pull off along US 11, which allows a stunning view of the bridge. I caught 30T rolling south here. The viaduct has walls on the sides, which partly obscure the view of the train, but its still an impressive sight. |

Hanjin stacks |
Description: |
The Hanjin train which originated on the NYSW and ran to Buffalo on the CP is now in NS hands for the leg to Chciago, running as train 275, today with 82 stack platforms and 10 COFC. Here is is at Blasdell, having just cleared GB, where the former NKP crossed the Eries Buffalo & Southwestern line to Jamestown. |

All kinds of stuff |
Description: |
You never knew what would show up for power on 13T; it could be just about anything, from top of the line new power, to whatever NS had in Buffalo that would run, and off line power was not uncommon. Sometimes the home road diesels were pretty interesting, such as on todays effort, an ex CR GP 15-1 leading an NS only B32-8 and an ex NW GP 38AC. All of these units were getting to be unusual by this time. The real surprise is a GP 15 on a road train. Conrail acquired 100 of these engines from EMD in 1979; they were used systemwide on locals and yard jobs, rarely going on the road on symbol freights. |

NS at the time operated a Roadrailer train into and out of Buffalo on a daily basis. We caught it while waiting for the NW 1218 trip. The ex NKP is a fast line, but he was MOVING!! |

Still Alcos |
Description: |
The C424s would stay in service for a few more years on the D&H, as CP had then quite a stable of them, and they fit right in with CP's power. One is at the fuel pad with a group of NS units, up from Potomac Yard. |

Interesting power |
Description: |
Despite the dwindling variety of diesels offered by the two remaining builders by 1990, there was still a remarkable variety on NS, and they seemed to run systemwide, and onto connections. The line up at the East Binghamton fuel pad this day bears this out, as we see a GP 59, B32-8, and GP 50, models that were not huge sellers compared to the SD40 types and C30-7s that pervaded most of the big roads rosters at that time. |
