I thought it was a malfunction, since the weather had been wreaking havoc with many things this week. Turned out it was not a glitch, it was the 262 train headed south with 282 axles. I caught him in a glint of sun at the detector at MP 218.4 behind an international mix of KCSM and CP power. |

On the return, we got off I 49 at the Anderson exit, turning south onto MO 59. As we went under the bridge just south of the ramp, there was a train rolling south. He beat us to Splitlog, but we got ahead at Anderson, and caught him going past the feed mill, dodging the shadows. |

There used to be a body shop here. Adair county picked up the property when the shop folded, and now uses it for a maintenance base for road equipment. The tracks here are on a short steep grade, coming out of a speed restricted curve that slows them considerably. Its kind of a straight on shot, but an easy one. The slow speed also makes getting ahead of the train for a shot at the signals at CP North Stilwell easy, or passing the station, about 1.5 mile south. |

I caught a 110 car oil train at Decatur with these CP units working as the DPU, capping off a NAFTA consist. How so?? The leader was a KCSM gray GE, followed by a couple of the US assigned units, though one of those was former TFM. Everybody can play!! |
