Rolling up to the team track
Title:  Rolling up to the team track
Description:  I was heading out to Wal Mart for a grocery pick up-I have not been in the store in over a year, we let them bring the stuff out to the car-and just as I was getting to Lake Frances Drive, I looked over to see a northbound cresting the grade up from Watts. I knew if I hustled, I could get him at one of several locations in town. I opted for the team track area, since it was currently unoccupied by set out gons from MOW projects, and the light was right for a 1000 shot. Hes snaking through the curve past Main St and the old station with 100 empty grain hoppers, approaching Lincoln Av.

Wider view
Title:  Wider view
Description:  The empty grain train passes the team track as it heads north, a wider angle than the first shot.

Out of the shadows
Title:  Out of the shadows
Description:  The I 181 rolls north along MO 59 approaching Anderson, catching the last spot of sun along the route as it rolls out of the shadow of a ridge west of the line. This was a spirited chase. Two units had 37 stack platforms, 20 autos, and 6 articulated racks, and made good time. I didn't beat him here by much; note the railfan chase vehicle hastily parked on the shoulder!!

Downtown
Title:  Downtown
Description:  I got to Gentry, and looked down the track to see the northbound coming up, just as he called the signal at South Gentry. Hes now passing the station site.

Not by much
Title:  Not by much
Description:  As I said, this was an inspired engineer. This spot is just to the north of the Dorsey siding, and often there will be meets here. Usually theres some chatter when that occurs, but there was nothing but the train calling the North Dorsey signal, and a horn. I got here with about enough time to back the car in, and walk out on the Wolf Creek bridge.

Down in the trees
Title:  Down in the trees
Description:  I was able to get ahead of the train again, just barely, to get this down on shot through the tunnel of trees at the Ark 59 overpass .

Another close one
Title:  Another close one
Description:  After the shot at Ark 59, I have to really hustle to get the train at Noel. The easiest shot is at Butler Creek, where theres a low water bridge, and its really a better southbound shot, but has the best access of several locations there. I beat the train, getting this shot from the crossing.

Elk River
Title:  Elk River
Description:  A little more hustle out of Noel, and I was able to get ahead of the I 181 far enough to beat it to this shot on the Elk river bridge, and get turned around before the train showed.
