The trains, not the ppwer, though this train has a homebuilt B unit. On slower freight days, some trains would be combined, usually the intermodals with the carload trains, such as this combined 553/270, carrying 57 cars of intermodal for Montreal and a 23 car block for Guilford at Mechanicville. |

CP 167 passes the site of Eries OG tower. It guarded the crossing of the DLW Ithaca Branch, which intersected first the Erie, approximately where the McMaster St pedestrian crossing is located-see the gates in front of the third car, then the LV Auburn Branch. The Ithaca Branch left the DLW main just west of the Owego station, which was located where the off ramp for exit 64 off westbuond NY 17 is now. |

D 22 rolls 19 cars north behind an SD40/GP 9 combination. Usually the consist was GP 9s or 38s. The other GP 9 must have had a problem, since the SDs were rare on this job. Its late March, but theres still snow on the ground here. Theres a lot more at the top of Belden Hill, even as spring grudginly takes hold of upstate. |
