BUME passes the "Welcome to Historic Owego" sign along NY 17C as it makes its way out of town, one unit heavier than when it arrived. Tioga Central 506 will be going back to familiar turf for work at the D&H shop in Binghamton.

Title:
Bicentennial unit twice over
Description:
Tioga Central 506 shows its colors, now a bicentennial unit for the second time. When new-actually a rebuilt unit classed RS3M by the D&H, it was their 506, then 1776, and wore this scheme. It never was repainted into the familiar D&H lightning stripe, but carried these colors til it was retired and sold to Tioga Central. They kept it in the scheme it arrived in, which proved handy a couple of years later when Tioga County marked their bicentennial year in 1991. The paint was touched up, and this is how it looked. Kermit Geary Jr lit it up at the night photo session.
