Got lucky
Title:  Got lucky
Description:  I was headed up to fill the gas cans for the lawn tractor. When I crossed the tracks at Lincoln Av, I saw lights. It was this southbound grain train with a pair of Belles.

Power balancing
Title:  Power balancing
Description:  Eight units is a lot of power, especially since most trains go through here with five. The extras were likely DPUs that accumulated at Heavener, since the heavy trains are southbound. One of the returning extras was the SD70ACe class unit, 4000, which has been repainted out of its old gray scheme, seen here trailing.

Caught him
Title:  Caught him
Description:  I was coming back from Gentry, and crossed the KCS at Davidson Rd. I looked south to see headlights coming around the curve down by the Cobb mill. I pulled across and hustled out to get set up. This was the catch, a northbound empty AEPX coal train with eight units. The second two were the best looking, a pair of ex CNW GEs that had been freshly painted. They would have looked better in CNW paint, but these looked good. Too bad they werent leading.

Down in the hollow
Title:  Down in the hollow
Description:  My next spot was north of Dorsey siding, just south of Gravette. It took me a little bit to catch him, since I had to let the whole train pass me at Davidson Rd, and the lighting is not good for a northbound at Gentry that time of day anyway. As it was, I didnt beat him here by much, having just enough time to get there and turn the car around before he showed. I still got a good shot, but then had to wait for the train-all 125 cars of it-to pass me again.

Caught up again
Title:  Caught up again
Description:  I had to wait for the train to pass me at Dorsey, so it was a good chase to catch him. There was no way I was going to get him at Gravette, and he was going under the bridge at Sulphur Springs when i went over. I heard him call the signal at South Noel as I was passing the state line. He was going to meet the southbound H train there, so I was able to get him. Otherwise, it would have been a hard run to get him on the bridge at Ginger Blue. Here we are slowing for the meet, passing the old station.

Coming up behind
Title:  Coming up behind
Description:  Heres the reason for the horn in the distance: the 181 train is now at Siloam Springs, cooling his heels for the red board he has at the north end of the siding, waiting while the OGEX train finally gets moving. Hes take off within five minutes. I was happy to get back into the warm car!!
