4012 elephant style
Title:  4012 elephant style
Description:  Train 4012 was the weekend mid day train to Montauk. On Sunday in the summer, it was used to sent the parlors back to the east end that had been serviced in Jamaica, and usually had two units. Mostly they ran back to back. Today we see them elephant style in a departure from normal practice.

4012 from a different perch
Title:  4012 from a different perch
Description:  I typically would go to Bellerose on Sunday, since it had the best viewing platform for trains on the Main Line. Occasionally Id go elsewhere, such as todays stop at Queens Village. We see 4012 behind the usual pair of GP 38s passing the Queens Village team yard west of the station. It will blow through the station, then bounce through Queens interlocking on its way to Hicksville and Montauk via the Central Branch.

Rolling for Oyster Bay
Title:  Rolling for Oyster Bay
Description:  The number of diesel powered trains dropped some after the Ronkonkoma electrification opened in 1988, but there were still quite a few, such as this Oyster Bay train rolling east through Queens interlocking behind the usual GP38

On the crossing
Title:  On the crossing
Description:  An Oyster Bay bound train holds traffic on I U Willets Rd as it slows for its Albertson stop with van cruncher 265, so called for its role in a crossing accident at Herricks Rd in 1982 which resulted in nine fatalities.
