DLW side |
Description: |
WABH 11, the local that works the Binghamton area, is on the ex Lackawanna side today, and will head down the old DLW on the Vestal Spur to National Pipe and Plastic, the small remnant of the line west of Binghamton. The area Im standing in once serviced mail and express cars. The GP 38-2 was typical power for this job, though sometimes it got a B 23-7. By the early 90s, GP 40-2s were common. NS is presently(2015) using a pair of ex CR SD 40-2s. |

Out in the high grass |
Description: |
Like many rail facilities that became underused, the ex DLW YO yard became overgrown. The were only a couple of tracks left which served the Agway feed mill, seen at right. WABH 11 had the task of servicing the customer, which we see here. The boxcars were filled with grain, also a relic of the past. It woule continue a few more years, and sometimes some real classics would show up. On at least one occasion I saw Erie cars here. |
