Here he comes

Knocked down
Title:  Knocked down
Description:  The H train has passed the signal, now red over red as he takes the siding. I quit the chase here-the light was going, and I had to get home-but at least with the end of February, the light stays longer, and I get more of the "back" part of the chase in before its too dark to shoot pictures.

Returning north
Title:  Returning north
Description:  I had hoped to chase the oil train down to Bunch, there are a couple of shots I want to do there, but the sun was now getting low, and I had a northbound to head home with, so I turned my attention to the H train, which we see here on the bridge over Baron Fork Creek, just barely catching the sun.

Title:  Dinner
Description:  The H train passes the pasture in Westville, the cows indifferent to the disruption in the peace and quite of a Tuesday evening. Perhaps they are thinking of their future as someones dinner??

Rolling north at the end of town
Title:  Rolling north at the end of town
Description:  I heard a horn while doing some work around the house, and took off. My quarry turned out to be this northbound empty grain train led by a KCSM GE, seen approaching Davidson Rd

Passing the automatic
Title:  Passing the automatic
Description:  And, at the same time, the detector. A little "axle math" tells me the train has 96 cars.

Dark side
Title:  Dark side
Description:  Normally I shoot this from the lit side, which has a good view in a tele shot of the train streteched out into the next curve south of town. This time I decided to go for the nose lit, but dark side of the train. It would be more effective if there wasnt so much clutter, as I could work the station/museum into the photo without a pole in front of it. This does have the advantage of allowing me a quick getaway, as I dont have to let the whole train pass before resuming the chase, though hed meet a southbound at Dorsey, just to the north, and Id get him anyway.

Title:  Out of the meet
Description:  The grain train has met a southbound Texas Gulf Utilities train at Dorsey, and is now rolling north along Wolf Creek, and is into the climb to Gravette. Ill hustle out of here to catch the coal train, which will happen just south of Decatur.
