Two shots of a grain train
Title:  Two shots of a grain train
Description:  A more comprehensive look at the situation is in the Siloam Springs album. Here are two shots of a southbound grain move, this one as it approaches Lincoln St in a longer view, accentuating the train coming through the sag north of town.

The southbound
Title:  The southbound
Description:  I moved up to the Lincoln St crossing to get the southbound grain train behind a pair of GEs coming through the sag north of town.

Gated
Title:  Gated
Description:  The wide view of the grain train gives away my position at the Lincoln St crossing, the gate in full view. The train stretches back through the dip. The Cobb feed mill we see so often in photos from Country Club Rd is in the distance.

Lucky catch
Title:  Lucky catch
Description:  We were headed to lunch at the Wooden Spoon in Gentry, and saw this train stretched through the south siding switch there. A quick run up to the head end yielded this shot of an empty grain move with seven units and 100 covered hoppers. More and more, northbound grain and coal trains are being used to ferry excess power back north, resulting in these monster power consists, where in the past, after enough diesels were accumulated at Heavener and Shreveport, a lite power move would run. This undoubtedly makes for fewer crew starts, but doesn't make for good photos most of the time-all power, very little, if any, train. One of the units, CP 9781, the last of the set, went south the previous day on a grain train.
