I have occasionally encountered UPs heritage units, the MP unit a couple of times, as well as the SP unit. None of the ones I have seen were on the original roads. The Katy unit continued that trend. Here it is trailing a couple of Geeps on a southbound headed for Texas on the former Rock Island. |

| Description: |
I was driving north on US 81 north of Kingfisher, which follows the former Rock line from Herington Kan down into Texas, when I caught up with this 87 car southbound UP train. GP 60s are unusual enough these days, but the trailing unit was the real treat: the Katy heritage unit. Lucky catch. Too bad the sun wasnt out!! |
