Coal south |
Description: |
Coal did not often move south over the CP, especially not with CP power. Here we see a southbound 8859 train entering the siding at Hop Bottom |

Unusual power |
Description: |
An 8859 empty coal train rolls across Martins Creek Viaduct behind a CP SD 40-2 and a pair of Guilford units as the late afternoon sun lights up the bridge. This was quite unusual, in that Guilford power rarely ran south of Binghamton, and coal trains almost always had NS power. |

413 on the hill |
Description: |
A location not often seen, probably due to other more scenic/interesting locations being available, is at Hancock Rd in Santiaria Springs. Here we see CP 413 working its way to the tunnel on a summer morning. |

Clean power |
Description: |
This unit got repainted about four times over the 15 years I saw it on the Tier. Here it is in the "golden rodent" scheme, leading 75 cars of train 413 north at Nowlan Rd. Note the pilot is cut out on the edges so it can run on Metro North, which CP was doing at the time, with trains 416/417 from Saratoga to Fresh Pond. |
