Now hes moving
Title:  Now hes moving
Description:  The 4014 started rolling shortly after I set up. By the time he got down to where I was on the shoulder of US 69, he had to be making about 45 MPH.

Meeting the moneymaker
Title:  Meeting the moneymaker
Description:  Just as I pulled up to the crossing in McAlester, a 117 car northbound freight was pulling up, about to pass the 4014 and head for Wagoner, where it would go onto the ex Mopac for the rest of the trip to Kansas City. Heres UP 5625 with a flag, meeting its predecessor.

Overhead view
Title:  Overhead view
Description:  I had taken the Winnebago as a chase vehicle, given that the Covid pandemic has taken on new life in the past six weeks, and this would give me a fridge and a bathroom that I didnt have to share with the rest of the world. It also made for a good place to shoot photos from. I used the ladder on the back of the RV to get this shot from the roof, getting a commanding view of the 4014 and the entire train.

Passing the elevator
Title:  Passing the elevator
Description:  This old Purina elevator at Choteau made a great backdrop for passing UP 4014, on the Parsons, Kan-McAlester OK leg of its 2021 tour. I need to get over here some morning to shoot freights passing this classic structure.

Roadside view
Title:  Roadside view
Description:  The days activity north of Wagoner was mostly alongside, and visible from, US 69. Aside from the idiot slowpokes who were blocking traffic in the left lane, it was a fairly easy chase. This view is from the shoulder of US 69 near Mazie.

Over the river
Title:  Over the river
Description:  UP 4014 rolls slowly across the Arkansas River a few miles out of Muskogee. View is from the old SR 16 bridge adjacent to the tracks.

Stopped on the causeway
Title:  Stopped on the causeway
Description:  The ex MKT crossed Eufaula Lake on a long causeway, with spans over the lake channels. The 4014 has stopped just at the entrance to the causeway for reasons unknown to me. Thats not a problem, as it gives me a moment to set up.
