Grab shot from the water |
Description: |
Dad was on an around the island boat trip with some friends in August 1973, and was able to get some rail action, though not all of it well composed, probably due to being on the bounding main. He managed this shot of an Amtrak work train as it moved onto Hell Gate. |

Unsung hero |
Description: |
The high speed trains on the corridor get all the attention, but its the lowly Geeps that make it possible. Silhouetted agains the sky on Hell Gate Bridge is GP 7 778 with the wire train. No wires, no Metroliner!! |

Unsung heroes |
Description: |
Even if they are orange. The work train units are relegated to a track away from the main part of the yard. But without the wire train, nobody goes anywhere. This pair of aging GPs keeps the place moving, so all those high speed electrics can run 100 MPH. |
