Description:  Conrail ran a Southern Tier picnic train in August of 1989, primarily at the behest of Southern Tier manager Jack Kithcart, a former EL man. The train is pulling away from BD, giving a good look at the obs. Thats the way to ride.

Description:  GP 40 3281 was added at Gang Mills to create a pull-pull train, since there was noplace to turn the power at Hammond Dam. It is leading the return trip along Hammond Lake, seen from PA 287

Title:  Picnic train help
Description:  The Southern Tier picnic train got a unit on the rear at Gang Mills to assist with the return trip on the Corning Secondary, since there was no place to turn the power at Hammond Lake. This GP 40 did the honors, sharing the job with a pair of E 8s on the head end.

Description:  A couple of riders on the rear platform watch the trains progress through East Glass. Hell be waving goodbye as the train gets up to speed for a quick ride east. Jack Kithcart was running, and he must have thought he had the Lake Cities. We never caught up to him.
