Like always, it starts with something else |
Description: |
We were coming back from lunch, when we saw the 181 train stretched out down to the US 412 overpass, waiting in the siding. We had to drop some mail at the post office, then head home. He was still there 15 minutes later when we came back. My wife said I could drop her home and take off. I dropped her off, grabbed a bag of recycling, and away I went. I got this shot of the head end waiting south of Lincoln St after dropping the bottles. The detector went off right after, and the chase was on. |

Off the bridge |
Description: |
I knew Id have a race to beat the 262 to Watts, but the railfan gods were with me, and I made all the lights, beating him with enough time to set up in the driveway of an old roadhouse on US 59 for this shot of the train coming off the Illinois River bridge |

Going to meet a northbound |
Description: |
There was chatter on the radio about a northbound, so I went down to the station to see if I could get it on the way into town. It turned out to be an empty AEPX coal train behind a Belle and a UP unit, here approaching the Stilwell station. |
