Description:  BNSF has started renumbering some of its older units, such as these ex ATSF pre superfleet GP 60s. Heres a trio of them working in the yard at Monett. Except for the cab lettering, they are otherwise untouched. Nice power set.

Title:  Little wings
Description:  UP has been putting wings on the noses of its diesels forover 20 years, and they are now common on almost all the road power. One place I have not seen them is on the smaller power that works on locals and in yards. So it was a surprise to find this GP 40 with wings on its standard nose parked at the yard office in Van Buren. The JTIX gon belongs to David J Joseph Co.

Description:  I have occasionally encountered UPs heritage units, the MP unit a couple of times, as well as the SP unit. None of the ones I have seen were on the original roads. The Katy unit continued that trend. Here it is trailing a couple of Geeps on a southbound headed for Texas on the former Rock Island.

Description:  I was driving north on US 81 north of Kingfisher, which follows the former Rock line from Herington Kan down into Texas, when I caught up with this 87 car southbound UP train. GP 60s are unusual enough these days, but the trailing unit was the real treat: the Katy heritage unit. Lucky catch. Too bad the sun wasnt out!!

Description:  An eastbound stack rolls 66 platforms toward Atlanta, viewed down a long tangent near Austell. The progression of signal aspects is evident in this long view. The near signal shows advance approach(Y/Y/R), leading to the next signal, showing approach(Y/R). After that, out of sight, is a red over red. In a few seconds, this train will meet UP 8148 west.

Description:  A CNW GE leads an interesting mix of power on a westbound van train. I had come to Cozad to make a pick up on an automotive load. It was scheduled to go at 1400 that day, so I spent most of it out trackside shooting whatever rolled past. I saw about 40 trains from 0800 til I went over to the customer around 1330. Of course it rained all day!!
