A then new CN ES44 rolls 12T west at Tioga Center. By this time, the Canadian train had been resymbolled 30T and 31T, were rerouted onto the D&H from Binghamton. But 12T tended to get all kinds of foreign power, so even though CN units had been off the line for a couple of years on the regular trains, they could occasionally show up here. |

Actually, this is one of the slower parts of the Transcon across the Texas panhandle. There is a hilly segment near Canadian, where the line crosses the Canadian River and its valley, making for some hard pulls. This 89 platform eastbound looks like it will make the grade. |

Tuscola Ill is an important junction. The UP-ex C&EI from Chicago to St. Louis and the NS ex Wabash both cross the IC here. In this view we see a confusing situation. Whose train is this with two of the players represented?? Its a UP train, but with a new NS ES40 leading, about to cross the IC. Thats the actual NS in to the right. |

Actually, its the power that led going south. These train run as shuttles, with the roles reversed on the empty trips, as the DPU on the way south, leads on the way north. This train had quite a power set, an NS unit on the south end, and a KCSM unit trailing on the north end behind a CP unit. Sounds like a NAFTA kind of set up. |

I spent an afternoon at Dalton GA, where NS crosses CSX. It was a fairly busy day, and the sun actually came out for a while. During that stretch, I caught this southbound freight behind a standard cab SD 70 rolling 46 cars under the signals for the diamond, which is just to the north. |
