Description:  Two units work their set off into Pomona Yard as their train waits on the main. The Amtrak station at that time was at the yard office, with a small ticket window and waiting room. I got there around 1 PM that day, waiting for the northbound Crescent, which would arrive around 3:30 AM. I had a front row seat for hours of action as trains stopped to make set offs and pick ups, and the yard engines did their thing in between. It was a great place to see the action.

Description:  The power that was on the Strasburg Local that day is now back in Manassas, tied up for tomorrows activity. Note the type B trucks under the GP 35's, the result of being used from trade in Alcos. For those of you who remember when MTV used to actually run music videos, youll recall Steve Winwood had a song out in the early 80s called "Back In the High Life Again" that featured a Southern Railway train switching. This was the train, the rail sequences shot here in Manassas.

Title:  Trains rep
Description:  In the late 70s, Trains magazine, during one of its motive power surveys, looked for a diesel that typified the power on American railroads. Their conclusion was that the unit that did so was B&O 3802. Here it is, some years later, trailing on an eastbound. Perhaps typically, it is the last unit of three on an othewise unremarkable train on an unremarkable day.

Unfortunately, it offered only the option of grab shots from the train. Still, the power could get interesting. Description:  There will be a bunch of these. The Enola dead line abounded with all kinds of diesels in the mid 80s. I took several photos from points along US 11/15 hoping to capture some of the power that would soon be going to its final rest. Description:  But it was hard to get. The location is just west of Deposit on the ex Erie Delaware Division. The problem was, you had to stand on the overpass, which was part of NY 17, a four lane expressway. Not a good idea. The troopers would tell you that, too.
