The UP decided it did not need all those cabs, and ordered a variety of "B" units from EMD, including, besides the usual E and F units, GP9s, GP30s, SD24s and DD35s. By the 1980s most of these were off the roster, though some GP30Bs hung on in storage at Yermo. Here are a couple, awaiting a call that would not come. |

| Description: |
One of the more unusual units was the GP30B, a unit only UP got. They shared the same styling as their cab equipped counterparts. UP in the 60s acquired a lot of power that was different, and these units surely were. This one is stored at Yermo, along with a number of others, as well as some Centennials and a few other models. |
