After I went to driving school, JB Hunt sent me out with a trainer for several weeks. We worked as a team, switching off the driving. We were rolling down I 57 one day, my trainer driving and me riding. I saw this UP train approaching from the east on the ex C&EI, and was able to get shot of it going away as it passed under the highway. The trailing unit, ex MP, is on familiar turf. Some days you win one. |

Working hard |
Description: |
SD 50s doing what they were bought for, rolling heavy trains across the main lines. The trailing unit is one of Conrails ten C30-7s, a model that sold well elsewhere. CR would acquire its step brother, the C30-7A, which got 3000 HP out of 12 cylinders. |

Rare bird |
Description: |
Conrail had only ten C30-7s, a model that was common elsewhere. They did go big for a modified version, the 12 cylinder C30-7A, of which they had 50. One of the straight C30s leads SEEN7 into Enola from Selkirk with 121 cars. |
