Title:  Slug set
Description:  A visit to the Allentown area would not be complete without stopping by the PB&NE to see what their power was doing. They were unique in the area, having switcher-slug sets that worked the Bethlehem Steel plant there. This set poses in front of the yard tower. The mill is in the background.

Description:  A GP 20 2058 sits at the Denver roundhouse. Note the "GP 20" plate on the cab side. Many years and a merger later, its still on the unit. To look at this scene, you would not know BN owned a second generation diesel.

Description:  The BN at the time had a lot of first generation power still at work, and there was a good representation of it at Denver. One such was this SD 9 at the turntable. There were a lot of then there that day.

Description:  A switcher brings a trailer flat past Halsted St station en route back to Clyde yard in Cicero. BN still had quite a few end cabs at this time, and they were seen systemwide in yard and local service.

Description:  A large group of CSX power is lined up at Conrails Allentown yard, probably en route to Naporano Iron & Metal in Newark for a date with the scrappers. Note the Ma & Pa and Maryland Midland box cars in the foreground. Allentown yard was always a colorful place to see power and rolling stock.

Title:  Home road power
Description:  The IHB was a busy road, with most Chicago area line haul roads running transfers over it. Every once in a while, youd catch some of the home road power, such as these three SWs rolling east just at sunset.
